Orvis Corporation, located in Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, the largest packing wood manufacturer, has been increasing the use of Japanese cedar. The maker used to be fully dependent on New Zealand radiata pine in the past, but Japanese cedar takes about half the materials it uses now. Its new factory was completed at a cost of about 5 billion yen in May last year. It has started full operation, improving productivity.
